Electromagnetic Sensor

Applicable Ship Type: A3 navigation area (A2) Electromagnetic speed log is a kind of instrument which utilizes the principle of electromagnetic induction to measure the ship's speed and range.

According to the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS Convention), the following ships are required to be equipped with an Electromagnetic Meter or other similar device:

① All ships of 300 gross tons and above and passenger ships of any size are required to be equipped with a device to indicate the ship's speed and range relative to the water;

② All ships of 50,000 gross tons and above are required to be equipped with a speed and distance measuring device, or other means, to indicate speed and distance over the ground in the forward and athwartships direction.
Functional performance: Single shaft, φ70mm, total length 640mm, measuring rod L510mm (not equipped with a cable to connect to the main engine).

Based on electromagnetic induction, a magnetic field is established around the measuring rod by energizing the coil at the top of the rod. When the ship moves, an electric field is generated and a voltage proportional to the ship's speed is detected by a pair of electrodes at the end of the sensor. This voltage is then fed back to the built-in amplifier to be converted into a current signal proportional to the speed, and the final output is converted to speed and range.
Waterproof: 0.5MPa for underwater section, IP55 for upper section (dustproof, water spray).
Measuring range: speed -13kt~65kt, different speed range setting through the machine (refer to the operation manual of the host for detailed operation).
Product advantages: support hot plugging, good linearity, higher sensitivity, can measure backward speed.
Note: the original direct use of the socket, our change of watertight letter plus extension cord to achieve. Remind the user to lock the aviation connector after plugging and fix it, so that the cable shall not be shaken.
